Gary L. Wilder’s book One Degree: Unleashing Your Focus is both practical and encouraging. His main message is clear: even being just one degree off in life can pull us far away from where we are meant to be.
One line that stood out to me was: “Just being one degree off for each hundred meters traveled could lead to a disastrous mission. ”This made me think about how even small choices add up over time. I’ve learned in my own life that if I don’t stay close to God’s truth, I can slowly drift in ways I never intended. Wilder’s example reminded me how important it is to check our direction daily.

Another line I loved was: “Knowing where we are going is important for all of us. Oftentimes we get off track by veering in the wrong direction. However, we can get back on course by navigating to the correct location.” This gave me hope. I’ve had seasons when I lost focus, but God always gave me the chance to reset and start again. Wilder’s words show that even when we’ve strayed, it’s never too late to realign with our purpose.
Why I Liked This Book
I appreciated how Wilder used his military background to give strong, clear examples. His words reminded me that true strength isn’t about being perfect—it’s about staying on course. The book is short, easy to read, and full of wisdom.
