My Journey with Vision Boards

 In 2019, I took a leap of faith and created my first vision board. Little did I know, this seemingly small act would have a profound impact on my life. Vision boards, I discovered, are not just collages but powerful tools that can transform hope into clear, actionable goals. They have been instrumental in helping me achieve milestones I once thought were out of reach, guiding me to align my plans with God’s purpose.

Philippians 3:13 says, “Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus.”  Vision boards capture this beautifully. They help us release the past and focus on the future God has planned. Proverbs 29:18 reminds us, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”  A clear vision brings purpose, direction, and motivation to move forward.

A vision board is more than a collage-it’s a visual declaration of where you’re going. When I create mine, I start by reflecting on what I want my life to look like 12 months from now. I seek God’s guidance, asking Him to reveal His plans and give me clarity. Ephesians 3:20 says, “God can do far more than we can imagine,” so I let myself dream big while staying realistic. Once I have a clear vision, I follow Habakkuk 2:2, which urges us to “write down the vision…so whoever reads it can run with it.” 

The creative part begins by gathering images and words to represent my dreams. God often speaks through visuals, as in Genesis 15:5 when He showed Abraham the stars to symbolize his descendants. I choose images and words that inspire me and reflect my goals. Whether it’s a picture of a book to represent writing aspirations or quotes that motivate me, these visuals help me stay focused, even during challenging seasons.

But vision boards are not just about dreaming-they require action. James 2:17 says, “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” For every goal I outline practical steps to move forward. For example, I set aside daily writing time when pursuing publishing goals or creating a fitness routine to meet my health goals. Small, consistent actions turn dreams into reality.

Speaking life over my goals has been just as important. Romans 4:17 reminds us that God “calls into existence things that don’t yet exist,” so  I turn my goals into daily declarations, saying them as if they’ve already happened: “I am a published author.” These affirmations build faith and keep me focused on what I’m working toward.

Gratitude is the final cornerstone. Philippians 4:6 urges us to pray with thanksgiving, trusting God with our needs. Keeping a gratitude journal reminds me of what God has done and His blessings. Creating a vision board is more than setting goals – it’s about aligning your dreams with God’s purpose. Start today, and let God guide you as you frame your future.
